Pony tails and Puppy Dog tails

A day in the life of Avery...building the biggest tower she can with the blocks we've got, making cheesy faces, laughing at everything and then knocking down the biggest tower. Avery loves building with our blocks. And it's very good at it if I don't say so myself. While she builds with all of these blocks she talks to them, me and herself the entire time. Most of the time cracking herself up. Avery is such a ham. I feel sorry for her first teacher because she is going to try and be the class clown.
This is our dog, Sport. We aren't forsure that he realizes he's just a dog because he enjoys spending time in window seals and sliding under our fence in the backyard. He's a great dog with A LOT of character and energy. Sport is great with our kids and loves on them when he's not running around the house like a mad man. Sport is also as smart as a whip. Tripp has been able to teach him many tricks including to sign please when he wants to eat one of Tripp's grapes or peaches. That's right folks...our dog is a healthy eater. ;-) We don't know forsure where the eating of fruits came from but as soon as Tripp pulls them out of the refridgerator Sport starts to whine and comes and sits on the couch where he knows Tripp is heading to eat. We are so glad Santa brought Sport into our lives last Christmas. At first we thought Santa was crazy, but now we wouldn't know what to do without our Sport.

Going home!

My Dad with Grandma
Grandma's personality shining through!
One of her favorite things to do with grandchildren and great grandchildren...read to them.
This was Sawyer Family Christmas 2007
My Grandma Sawyer as gone home today to be with her Father. This is something she has been looking forward to in the last several months. I'm so excited for her that she is sitting with her Father and talking about everything He did for her and everything she did for His Kingdom in her lifetime. She was also greeted by her husband of over 50 years of marriage along with many other family members. A while back while some of her children were working on going through her stuff at her apartment, they ran across a very special journal. Several years ago I read the Purpose Driven Life and spoke to Grandma about it. Later that same year, I found out she had decided to read it. Along with reading it, she decided to do the journal that comes with it. Her children ran onto the journal as they were sorting through things and decided that I should have it. A month ago when we were in Kansas, we visited Grandma in the hospital and I made sure to tell her the journal was with me and it wouldn't be going anywhere. She sat up and told me to hold on to that because God's word is all we've got to survive. I don't know how many of you have heard of or read the Purpose Driven Life but I thought it was fitting to share with you an insert that my Grandma Sawyer had written in her journal. It reads, "Our time on earth and our energy, intelligence, opportunities, relationships and resources are all gifts from God. We are stewards of whatever God has given us. We must recognize that God is the owner of everything and everyone on earth. God just loans the earth to us while we are here. You just get to enjoy it for a while. The more God gives you, the more responsible He expects you to be. At the end of our life on earth, we will be evaluated and rewarded according to how well we handled what God entrusted to us. This world is not my home-I'm only passing through-these words are part of a song I have known most of my life. My identity is in eternity and my homeland is heaven."

I've got my eyes on you!

Several months ago Tripp and the girls started putting Mr. Potato Head eyes between their fingers like puppets and would start talking, chasing each other and kissing each other goodnight. I laugh so hard whenever they do this so this time I thought I'd share it with y'all. One of these days I'll video tape it and post that. When Austyn does this with Daddy they even give each other names. Tripp is such a wonderful Daddy. So creative in how he plays with the girls. They love it!!! From the day they both were born, he would lay on the floor with them, talk to them, laugh with them, and read with them. We are so blessed by him!!!

Random Hamby Happenings

The other day I found Avery in her bedroom at naptime like this. Sleeping with her standup "HUGE" Mickey Mouse cutout. She loves her Mickey.

Austyn got to be Queen of the Day at school a few days ago. She jumped into my car during pickup just beeming with a huge smile and a beautiful crown. Her classmates also got to help put this book she's holding together with drawings from each of them. It was a great day for Austyn!!!

Another one bites the dust!!! Yesterday Austyn lost her second tooth and thank goodness Mommy was there to see it this time. You'll have to ask her the story about how she pulled it out or should I say...knocked it out ;-)

Breaking out the ol' college gear!

Yesterday evening our church had our 2nd Annual Lifecare Block Party and Cook-Off. Our Lifecare group had a Big 12 Tailgate Party theme which was a lot of fun. We decorated in several different Big 12 Team colors with lots of footballs, bennetts, flags...you name it we had it. I also brought the good ol' Kansas State University Marching Band CD!!! That went over REALLY well ;-) The girls got to play in a bounce house, sand, water, and much more. Plus, with it being a cook-off you get to try everyone's food from 10 different booths. It was a lot of fun but we are way tired today. Oh, I also got dunked several times in the dunk tank.

Labor Day activites...

Did a little swimming...

A weekend ago, some of our women's ministry took a trip to San Antonio to see Beth Moore. It was awesome!!!

During our trip we had some fun with hats!!!

As you can see, the Tooth Fairy was a little generous this time ;-) But isn't she so cute without her tooth!!!

This is a video that I made from our trip to downtown Austin to watch several of my women's ministry friends run in the Human Race10K on Sunday of Labor Day weekend. It was such a blessing and inspiration to be there with them. The video was distorted a little bit after I uploaded so hopefully you'll be able to enjoy it over the distortion. Sorry about that. I really loved taking the girls down there and showing them what it truly means to support your friends. And Tripp and the girls were troppers and I'm so gratefully they went with me. We also got to see Lance Armstrong and Matthew Mccounahey and his new family. That was awesome. I have pictures of them but didn't think it was a good idea to post them on a public blog...know what I mean, Vern ;-)
